A quarter on each order.
It adds up.

Neither app takes a commission on your orders. The difference is the card rate. On a $25 card payment:

$1.28Bakesy card fee
$1.03Stripe card fee
$0.25More per order

At 100 of those orders, that's $25 more in card fees with Bakesy. Its Premium plan costs $1.01 less than Ovenbell; Standard costs $9.01 less.

With Ovenbell, you connect your own Stripe account and Stripe bills its fee directly. Ovenbell adds nothing per order. See Bakesy's payment rates.

When does Ovenbell cost less?

Monthly card sales above which Ovenbell costs less than each Bakesy plan
Bakesy planMonthly card sales

Plan price plus card processing at standard US rates: 3.9% + $0.30 for Bakesy Secure Payments and 2.9% + $0.30 for Stripe. Both add $0.30 per payment, so these points don't depend on your average order. Below them, Bakesy costs less. Estimates are rounded to cents; actual per-payment rounding can vary.

A few questions
before you choose.

How much does Bakesy cost?

Bakesy has two plans: Standard at $9.99 a month and Premium at $17.99, after a 30-day free trial. Bakesy says it never takes a commission on your orders. Card payments through Bakesy Secure Payments cost 3.9% + $0.30 each. See Bakesy's plans.

Is Ovenbell cheaper than Bakesy?

Ovenbell’s plan costs more, at $19 a month. Its card fees cost less: you pay Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30, and Ovenbell adds nothing per order. Above $101 a month in card sales, Ovenbell costs less than Bakesy Premium; against Standard, the point is $901. Below those amounts, Bakesy costs less.

Which Bakesy plan should I compare?

Premium, if customers should buy and pay online right away. Bakesy's Instant Checkout and inventory are Premium features; on Standard, customers send an order request and you reply with an invoice. The calculator shows both plans. Read about Instant Checkout.

Who pays Bakesy’s card fee?

Bakesy's terms describe your earnings as what customers pay minus its service fees, which include payment processing. Its help pages don't describe a way to pass the fee on to customers. With Ovenbell, Stripe takes its fee from each card payment to your account. Read Bakesy's terms.

Do Venmo, Zelle or cash orders have a fee?

Not from either app. In Bakesy you mark those orders as paid; in Ovenbell you record the payment on the order. Payment services such as Venmo may charge their own fees for business payments.

Can customers message me in either app?

Bakesy's help center says no: conversations with customers happen outside its app. In Ovenbell, messages from your shop's contact form, order links and quotes arrive in one inbox. You reply from there, customers answer by email, and you can turn a message into an order or a custom request. See Bakesy's help center.

Can Ovenbell handle custom cake and cookie orders?

Yes. Customers send a custom request, you send a quote and collect a deposit, and the remaining balance stays with the order. If a customer wants a bigger cake or a different pickup time, they approve the change before the confirmed order is updated.

What happens after Ovenbell’s free trial?

Your first 30 days are free. A card is required, and the monthly plan is $19 after the trial. Cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged. An annual plan is also available for $190, billed annually; this page compares the monthly plan.
